From now on, football matches will be stopped as a matter of course if fireworks are set off in the stands and land on the pitch or in other stands. The match will not be played to completion until another day. This has been agreed upon by the KNVB, the Public Prosecution Service, and Minister David van Weel (Justice and Security).

Matches in Dutch professional football will henceforth be immediately stopped if fireworks are thrown or fired towards the pitch or other stands. This was announced by the Minister of Justice and Security following consultations with the KNVB and the police, among others. The recent fireworks incidents at SC Cambuur - Feyenoord and FC Utrecht - Go Ahead Eagles are the reason for this.
From now on, football matches will be stopped by default if fireworks are set off in the stands. The match will then only be rescheduled for another day...
