Budapest Zoo Reopens Petting Areas After Disease Lockdown

- The closure began on March 10, 2025, following a regional outbreak report, and the zoo had conducted a risk assessment of susceptible animals at that time.

- Zoo officials stated on Tuesday, “the risks are now deemed manageable,” allowing full access and interaction to resume in affected areas like the petting zoo and Australian Walk.
- Zoo management announced continued health monitoring of animals to prevent future outbreaks while restoring a normal visitor experience.
