Shoppers Warned 'Do Not Eat' Condiment From Tesco and Sainsbury's Due to Recall
The manufacturer is recalling multiple batches and telling customers to return them for a full refund, the Food Standards Agency said.
On Thursday, the Food Standards Agency issued a recall for Arran Fine Foods Caramelised Red Onion Chutney after detecting potential contamination with "pieces of metal," warning consumers the product is "unsafe to eat."
Manufacturer Fox's Burton's Companies UK initiated the recall after identifying the contamination across multiple batches, though FBC confirmed no other products are affected by the safety issue.
The recall affects 15 jars in 195g and 1.35kg packs with varying best-before dates, now listed as "out of stock" at Tesco and Sainsbury's where the condiment was previously stocked.
Retailers have displayed point-of-sale notices explaining the recall, and FBC Ltd has apologized for inconvenience; customers can contact careline@fbc-uk.com or telephone 0800 591 886 for refunds.
The FSA routinely issues recall notices to protect consumer health across the UK, ensuring products are withdrawn when contamination risks such as foreign material presence are identified.
