- Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced Thursday that 46-year-old Bradley Hartmann faces three felony counts of making terrorist threats against Governor Tony Evers after leaving profanity-laced voicemails on June 28.
- In the voicemails, Hartmann allegedly threatened to kill Evers if he visited Fond du Lac and railed against Pride Month, using racial slurs and derogatory comments about LGBTQ individuals, according to the criminal complaint.
- During an interview with Capitol Police investigators, Hartmann admitted to drinking "7-8 beers" and taking sleeping pills before the calls, stating he did not remember making them and "must have blacked out."
- Judge Andrew J. Christenson set a $15,000 cash bond on Wednesday, prohibiting Hartmann from contacting the governor or visiting Capitol Square in Madison, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 23.
- District Attorney Toney stated, "America has witnessed horrific acts of political violence in recent years, and we know political violence is not a Democrat or Republican issue, it's a societal issue," emphasizing the need to protect all officials.
