Florida to induct former coach Urban Meyer into the team's ring of honor next season
Urban Meyer will join Florida Gators legends in the ring of honor after leading the team to two national titles and a 65-15 record, the program said.
- On Saturday, the University of Florida announced that former Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer will be inducted into the football program’s Ring of Honor next season, with the exact date to be announced later.
- Amid the Hall of Fame lead-up, Urban Meyer was elected to the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame and was delayed from a 2022 Ring of Honor induction after his 2021 NFL firing amid an alleged kicking incident.
- Meyer compiled a 65-15 record during six seasons , winning national titles in 2006 and 2008 with back-to-back 13-win seasons and a 22-game win streak.
- The university noted Meyer will be the program's seventh Ring of Honor member, joining Tim Tebow, Emmitt Smith and Steve Spurrier, and Meyer said the recognition is meaningful for his family.
- Under the program's rules, Ring of Honor selection requires being five years removed from UF and in good standing, which Urban Meyer meets while thanking Gator Nation for its support.
