FLORIDA SOUTHERN COLLEGE NAMES DEBORAH BROMFIELD LEE THE JESSIE BALL DUPONT ENDOWED CHAIR IN THE NATURAL SCIENCES

On Jan. 26, 2026, Florida Southern College announced Dr. Deborah Bromfield Lee as the Jessie Ball duPont Endowed Chair in the Natural Sciences, with provost Dr. Tracey Tedder citing `her contributions to the field.`
Having joined the faculty in 2012, Dr. Deborah Bromfield Lee serves as Department Chair and Director of the Quality Enhancement Plan, roles Florida Southern College cited in awarding the chair.
Her academic record shows Dr. Deborah Bromfield Lee holds degrees from the University of South Florida, Florida Atlantic University, and North Carolina State University and previously taught at Elon University and Kennesaw State University.
The College said the Jessie Ball duPont Chair in the Natural Sciences allows continued advancement in natural sciences and supports Florida Southern College’s mission across 70+ undergraduate and distinctive graduate programs.
The appointment comes as Florida Southern College, founded in 1883 with 13 Frank Lloyd Wright-designed structures, is featured in The Princeton Review's 2026 Best 391 Colleges and the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2025.
