Despite having been granted asylum in Greece, many migrants are fleeing to Germany. In the first five months of this year alone, eight thousand people have already flown there, compared to over 26 thousand last year. Airports are seen as a loophole in border controls, and the police are demanding greater powers, writes the website of the weekly Focus, citing data from the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
Thousands of asylum seekers travel to Germany legally by plane. If they come from Greece, they are allowed to remain de facto permanent. If the Federal Republic no longer wants to be the main destination of migrants in the EU, it has only one chance.
Several thousand refugees already recognized in Greece have apparently traveled on to Germany by land and air and have applied for asylum here again.
