The Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) converts audio material into the file format of the same name. The associated command-line program dominates multithreading for the first time in the newly released version 1.5. But the libraries also bring something new for developers. On request, the tool "flac" distributes its work over several threads, which in turn can drastically accelerate the encoding process.
