A scandal has erupted at the Women's U21 Volleyball World Championship in Indonesia. The Vietnamese team was handed a four-game suspension, 0-3, despite a strong performance in the group stages, due to suspicions of an irregular player. "Following concerns raised that the Vietnam Volleyball Federation had fielded an irregular player in the national U21 team.
Vietnam U.21 was disqualified by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) due to accusations of using illegal players, leading to the ticket to the round of 16 of the world volleyball tournament being awarded to Indonesia U.21.
