First Production Aircraft of World’s Fastest Business Jet, the Bombardier Global 8000, Completes Flawless Inaugural Flight
- Bombardier completed the first production Global 8000 business jet’s inaugural flight on May 16 from Toronto Pearson International Airport.
- The Global 8000 program followed a long development history starting in 2010 with a relaunch in 2022 focusing on extending range and updating systems.
- During the flight, pilots carried out various production test activities, including operating all flight controls, and confirmed that the aircraft and its systems functioned properly throughout.
- Powered by twin GE Aerospace Passport engines delivering 18,920 lb thrust each, the Global 8000 supports 19 passengers with a top speed of Mach 0.94 and a range of 8,000 nautical miles.
- After reaching this key milestone, the jet will be transported to Bombardier’s Montreal facility for the completion of its cabin fittings prior to entering service in the latter half of 2025.
