25 km of the road wound on the Iași–Ungheni segment, including the bridge over the Prut River, will be fully electrified. This will be the first part of the route electricalised from the territory of the Republic of Moldova and the first cross-border connection with this type of Romania.
The Republic of Moldova will, firstly, have a fully electrified section of the Hungarian–Iasi segment, including the modernisation of the railway bridge over Prut. The project is carried out in partnership with Romania and receives financial support from the European Commission through the European Interconnection Mechanism (CEF).
