FIRST-IN-HUMAN STUDY DEMONSTRATES Qi601 CAN PHYSICALLY CAPTURE MICROPLASTICS
A peer-reviewed study in *Frontiers in Microbiology* reported first-in-human proof-of-concept evidence for technology designed to physically capture microplastics.
The study evaluated Qi601®, a non-living postbiotic developed by Quorum Innovations to bind micro- and nanoplastics in the gastrointestinal tract.
Researchers observed microplastic particles from chewing gum physically associated with Qi601 agglomerates in human saliva.
Laboratory digestion studies found that Qi601 retained 92% nanoplastic depletion and prevented 98% of nanoplastics from entering human colon cells.
