HONOLULU COUNTY, HAWAII, JUL 25 – Fire crews have contained 75% of the 20-acre fire near Kapolei Commons with no structures threatened and no immediate risk to residents, officials said.
- On Thursday evening, firefighters responded to a wildfire that broke out close to the Kapolei Commons shopping area along Kapolei Parkway.
- The fire began as a reported rubbish fire with an unknown cause and quickly spread to about 20 acres.
- Officials responded with a combination of multiple tankers and fire trucks to control the blaze, which was visible from the H-1 Freeway.
- By about 2:23 a.m. Friday, the fire was reported 95% contained, with no structures threatened or evacuations ordered.
- Residents were advised to avoid the area and prepare emergency plans and go-bags in case conditions worsen.
