Fire wrecks B.C.'s historic Little Red House, beloved by painters and photographers
The Gothic-style farmhouse was a popular photo backdrop and had stood for nearly 140 years, the Township of Langley archives say.

- Murdoch and Annie McIver built the Gothic-style farmhouse to accommodate their growing clan of nine children, replacing an earlier log cabin that was likely too small.
- Located in Glen Valley, the property remained occupied for decades before falling into disrepair; the Langley Heritage Society noted its setting made it "one of the most photographed and painted" homes.
- Township councillor Rob Rindt shared videos of the fire, calling the loss "incredibly sad," while the Langley Heritage Society stated Friday it was "sad and unfortunate" the structure was never preserved.
- The Langley Heritage Society says the farmhouse, which served as a backdrop for photo shoots, "evoked memories of simpler times," with images capturing the structure's final moments.
