Fire in Ishigaki, Okinawa, Early Morning on the 5th: Body Found in Ruins; Male Resident Unable to Be Contacted

At around 4:05 a.m. on the 5th, a resident passing by called 119 to report that black smoke was coming from a room in a single-story reinforced concrete building in Tonoshiro, Ishigaki City. According to Yaeyama Police Station and Ishigaki City Fire Department, the fire was put out about an hour and a half later, but the single-story building was half burned. A man was found in the ruins and taken to hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
