Hard hit by a fire that required its complete evacuation, the Rouyn-Noranda hospital will have to be the subject of work for “several months”. In the meantime, patients will continue to be transferred to other facilities in the region, where pressure is already being felt, and further afield.
Demolition work is currently taking place on the second floor of Rouyn-Noranda Hospital, following the 11-day fire in this facility. It is not known how long the work will last since the damage assessment is still under way. For the time being, the resumption of services is taking place gradually, including vital emergency surgeries which have resumed since Thursday.
