Two factories in the Ħal Far Industrial Zone experienced a “major” fire on Friday night, and from a distance, a huge black plume could be seen floating across the sky over the southern part of Malta. The Civil Protection Department (CPD) responded to the emergency call immediately and brought the fire under control by 12.45am earlier this morning. A massive fire has engulfed the Ħal Far Recycling Plant of WasteServ around 8pm today. It also appears that the C and V Polymers plant also caught fire. The smoke could be seen for as far as Gudja with several residents in neighboring localities such as Birżebbuġa reporting ambulances passing through their town.
