Finland’s Lumi AI Factory to Deploy IQM Halocene H4 Quantum Computer

The on-premises Halocene H4 will start with 150 qubits and later add upgrades for fault-tolerant quantum computing, IQM said.

  • The LUMI AI Factory, led by the CSC IT Center for Science, selected IQM Quantum Computers to deploy the Halocene H4 quantum computer, dubbed Lumi-IQ, in 2027.
  • Jointly funded by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, Finland, Czechia, Norway, and Poland, the contract is valued at approximately $35m.
  • The initial 2027 delivery will feature a quantum processing unit with 150 qubits, though Mikael Johansson, Manager for Quantum Technologies at CSC, noted the system will evolve through multiple upgrade phases.
  • Kimmo Koski, Managing Director of CSC, explained the platform enables Quantum Error Correction, building capabilities for the next era of innovation.
  • Jan Goetz, CEO and Co-founder of IQM, emphasized the company's global reach; the Nasdaq-listed firm employs over 400 people and has delivered systems to South Korea, Poland, Italy, and Taiwan.
