Finding Faith: A prayer for a relaxing summer
The midweek services are now a regular summer option as leaders say they fit a congregation that is often away on Sundays.
Our church will continue its evening summer services, keeping the tradition launched five years ago following the recent Memorial Day holiday as an alternative to traditional Sundays.
Launched in 2021 after pandemic restrictions ended, the services began as an experiment to accommodate congregants who were often away on Sundays during summer months.
These services provide a lightness often absent during the rest of the year, offering a necessary break from the fast pace of 21st-century life and allowing congregants to embrace a slower Sabbath rhythm.
God intends for Sabbath to be physically, mentally, and spiritually restorative, and the church encourages congregants to seek the Holy Spirit's permission to slow down, wherever they find peace.
Maybe congregants can take time off or enjoy a quiet moment this Summertime; the church hopes that by easing off the gas pedal, everyone can find rest before returning to regular routines.
