Fetterman announces $1.44M for Williamsport water tank replacement project
The grant will replace a 100-plus-year-old tank and improve service reliability for more than 51,000 customers, officials said.
Senator John Fetterman announced $1,440,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency to the Williamsport Municipal Water Authority today for a critical water tank replacement project.
Secured through the FY24 Congressionally Directed Spending process, the funding will replace a water storage tank over 100 years old, ensuring system longevity and reliability.
This investment bolsters water service reliability for over 51,000 customers, a project Michael D. Miller, Executive Director of The Authority, called essential for a dependable and resilient system.
Senator Fetterman emphasized that "this investment will improve water service reliability for generations to come and puts ratepayers first," reflecting his priority of securing federal investments to lower costs.
The Williamsport Municipal Water Authority thanked the EPA for assistance throughout the grant process, noting that maintaining critical water infrastructure is essential for the community's long-term future.
