Felker Lake Wildfire Remains Out of Control in South Cariboo - Greenwood Boundary Creek Times
BC Wildfire Service said 144 firefighters, nine helicopters and heavy equipment are working to protect structures and infrastructure as the blaze stays out of control.
- As of Aug. 1, the Felker Wildfire south of Williams Lake holds at 4,217 hectares while remaining out of control despite no substantial growth in recent days.
- Since the fire was Discovered on July 23, the Cariboo Regional District issued one evacuation order and two evacuation alerts. These precautionary measures remain in place as the Felker Wildfire continues burning.
- The BCWS deployed 144 Firefighters, 25 pieces of heavy equipment, and 16 structure protection personnel to combat the blaze. Ground crews are mopping up along all accessible flanks while working the fire perimeter.
- Preliminary containment surrounds much of the perimeter, yet high-level scans reveal numerous areas of heat and pockets of unburned fuels within the Control lines.
- The BCWS prioritizes responder and public safety alongside protection of structures, critical infrastructure, and cultural values as containment efforts continue.
