Mykhailo Fedorov said he is seeking backing from venture capitalists, private investors, and U.S. technology companies for a fund that would invest in Ukrainian defense startups and create new companies focused on battlefield technologies.
Former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said he was ready to help the United States “create an army of drones” in exchange for supplying Ukraine with missiles for Patriot systems.
The proposal comes as Fedorov embarked on an international tour that included Italy and the United States, after President Volodymyr Zelensky removed him as defense minister. Fedorov told the FT in Washington that he was seeking support from venture capital funds, private investors and US technology companies for a fund that would invest in Ukrainian defense startups and found new companies focused on battlefield technologies.
