Increased ICE Raids Raises Concerns in Eastern Idaho Following Federal Raid in Wilder
Federal agents arrested four individuals linked to an illegal gambling ring at a Canyon County horse racing facility; Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained additional people, FBI said.
- The Salt Lake City FBI's Boise Resident Agency led a multi‑agency raid at La Cathedral Arena in Wilder on Oct. 19, arresting four individuals including Ivan Tellez in a federal gambling probe.
- A criminal complaint filed Oct. 15 alleges Ivan Tellez, 37, of Wilder, Idaho, ran an illegal gambling business and faces one count in U.S. District Court in Boise at La Catedral Arena LLC.
- Federal agents from ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations and DEA, supported by agencies including the Canyon County Sheriff's Office, were on scene to process immigration violations, with ICE allegedly detaining many more beyond four arrests.
- The FBI had scheduled a briefing for 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, but canceled it; the ACLU of Idaho still plans a press conference and hotline at 208-344-9750, extension 5.
