Salmon Sold at BJ’s Wholesale Stores Recalled over Possible Listeria Contamination
Slade Gorton recalled lot 3896 of Wellsley Farms salmon due to Listeria monocytogenes found in an FDA sample; no illnesses reported so far, the company said.

- Evidence from a random FDA sample showed Listeria monocytogenes, and Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. is investigating the contamination while taking steps to prevent recurrence.
- The product was sold in 2‑lb bags at BJ's Wholesale Club stores in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia from Jan. 31 through Feb. 7, and packaging shows UPC 888670025963 and lot 3896.
- BJ's is notifying members and offering refunds; no illnesses have been reported to date, according to the release, and customers can contact 1-888-628-0730 for instructions.
- The FDA warned that listeria infections can cause high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, and pregnant women could face miscarriage or stillbirth; general consumers should contact a health care provider if symptomatic.
