Dog Treats Sold in 7 States Recalled Due to Salmonella Threat
Consumers Supply Distributing halted sales of 4-pound dog biscuits after FDA found Salmonella in products sold across seven states; no illnesses reported, agency said.
- Consumers Supply Distributing, LLC recalled four-pound bags of Country Vet Biscuits — Original Meaty Flavor and Heartland Harvest Dog Biscuits — Meaty Flavor with Chicken, lot code 40906513, best-by date September 6, 2026, after possible Salmonella contamination, the FDA said.
- The FDA's routine sampling program detected Salmonella, prompting Consumers Supply Distributing to halt production and distribution of the affected lot while investigating.
- Stores in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Montana and Nebraska carried the recalled bags, which are identifiable by UPCs 899623000463 and 840227340691.
- Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled dog biscuits and return them for a refund; questions can be directed to the company at 202-5609, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. central.
- Because some infected animals show no symptoms, pets can spread Salmonella to humans who handle the products without thorough handwashing, and veterinarians and healthcare providers should be contacted if symptoms appear.
