The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Tufan Erhurman, sent three separate letters to the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU) and Barcelona Football Club against attempts by the Greek Cypriot side to block it in the diplomatic, cultural and sporting spheres.
TRNC President Tufan Erhürman sent letters to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the European Commission, and the President of Barcelona FC following recent diplomatic, cultural, and sporting pressures against Turkish Cypriots.
The party argued that a major European sports organization cannot carry out official activities in the Occupied Territories.
Barcelona's youth football academy camp, scheduled to be held in Nicosia, was cancelled due to pressure from the Greek Cypriot administration and institutions. Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, condemned this mentality that attempts to extinguish the dreams of children, stating that they stand with the TRNC and will continue to defend its legitimate rights.
