FBI arrests woman who allegedly plotted attack on New York State Capitol building
On Thursday, federal authorities arrested Jessica Bowie, 35, of Albany, charging her with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terror organization for an alleged plot targeting the New York State Capitol.
Identifying as "Aisha Saif," Bowie converted to Islam five years ago and allegedly coordinated with a source posing as an ISIS facilitator between July 16 and August 17, according to the complaint.
Targeting the building less than two miles away, Bowie sought help creating explosives and told a confidential source she wanted to "harm the enemies of god," the complaint said.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III and FBI special agent in charge Craig Tremaroli will announce details at 3 p.m. today during a press conference addressing the case.
Bowie operated multiple social media accounts expressing support for terrorism between May and July, creating new profiles after providers "frequently suspended" her previous ones for violating terms of use.
