Nigerian military helicopter carrying 32 passengers and crew members crashes, aviation minister says
On Monday, a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, with 32 people on board during a routine flight from Benin to Lagos.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo stated the aircraft, tail number NGR 931, disappeared from radar at around 9 a.m. local time while en route to Nigeria's economic hub.
Preliminary information indicates 25 passengers and seven crew members were aboard, and the Nigerian Air Force immediately launched search and rescue operations.
Pledging cooperation with Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, Keyamo clarified that the Ministry of Aviation does not regulate military aircraft.
