Father Stephen “Steve” J. Szeman, who served the Archdiocese of Seattle since 1953, died just before midnight April 29, 2026, at his home in Kirkland. At 98, he was the archdiocese’s oldest living priest.Born on Oct. 4, 1927, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, he was the second of Stephen John Szeman and Julia Dorothy Hornick Szeman’s six children — and their only son.
