Abundant Life School Shooter's Father to Stand Trial
MADISON, WISCONSIN, JUL 24 – Jeffrey Rupnow faces charges of selling a dangerous weapon to a minor and contributing to child delinquency in connection with a deadly school shooting, prosecutors say.
- On Thursday in Madison, Jeffrey Rupnow is set to appear for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m., addressing charges of providing his daughter with the weapon used in the deadly attack.
- Rupnow faces two counts of giving a dangerous weapon to a minor and one count of contributing to delinquency, with prosecutors saying he bought guns for his daughter despite her known violent interests.
- Investigators recovered a 9 mm Glock and a.22-caliber Sig Sauer from her belongings, police say both were registered to her father and she killed two individuals and wounded six before her suicide.
- Circuit Court Commissioner John Rome denied the defense motion, finding probable cause and binding Rupnow over for trial, where he could face up to 18 years in prison.
- In recent years, several parents have been held criminally responsible after similar school attacks, following last year’s involuntary manslaughter convictions of Michigan shooter’s parents.
