Fatal shooting in Springfield occurred when the alleged killer went to the victim’s house to buy crack cocaine, police say

SPRINGFIELD — Police discovered an alleged murder victim lying on an air mattress with a gunshot wound to the forehead, according to court records. Robert Hatcher, 60, was arraigned in Springfield District Court Thursday morning in connection with the shooting. He pleaded not guilty to a murder charge, assault to murder, strangulation, armed robbery and other counts.
