President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo stated on April 28, 2026, that she trusts the extradition to Mexico of Rear Admiral Fernando Farías Laguna, nephew of former Secretary of the Navy Rafael Ojeda Durán, will not be politicized. Farías Laguna was arrested in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is under investigation for allegedly leading a fuel theft ring with the support of military structures in port customs.
The defense further argues that Farías Laguna was the one who denounced the alleged network of fiscal "huachicol" before his hierarchical superior, Rafael Ojeda, former secretary of Marina.
