Concern grows for British couple jailed in Iran after family loses contact
Their family says the couple’s only contact with the outside world was cut off after they spoke to media about their detention.
The family of British couple Lindsay and Craig Foreman reported earlier this month that telephone contact ceased following a media interview where the pair said they felt "abandoned" in Iran.
Authorities in Tehran arrested the East Sussex residents in January 2025 during an around-the-world motorcycle trip, holding them in Evin prison on espionage charges which the 53-year-olds vehemently deny.
In her first interview since February 28, Lindsay told ITV News she could hear the "whistling noise of missiles and the hum of the drones," adding, "When the buildings shake, there is nowhere to go."
Their family fears the telephone blackout serves as retribution for the interview, with their son Joe Bennett stating, "We simply do not know if my mum and Craig are safe."
The Foreign Office, describing the sentences as "completely appalling and totally unjustifiable," warns that British nationals face a "significant risk of arrest, questioning or detention" while in Iran.
