- On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, alleged the Election Commission of India colluded with the BJP to manipulate voter rolls and 'steal' seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
- Lack of digital access fueled Gandhi’s accusations, as the ECI refused to hand over electronic voter rolls and CCTV footage, he said.
- Gandhi’s figures revealed 11,965 duplicate voters and 40,009 fake or invalid addresses in voter list analysis.
- In response, Sambit Patra demanded Gandhi submit an affidavit to the Election Commission to prove his claims.
- Next, Gandhi announced that after the Vote Adhikar Rally at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park on August 8, Congress plans to submit a memorandum to the Election Commission office in Karnataka.
