France Rolls Out Free at-Home Test Kits for STIs

In France, since Tuesday 1 July, Social Security has made available a new free screening tool for 18-25 year-olds. The objective is to facilitate the detection of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), which is on the rise throughout the country.
This self-sampling kit concerns the detection of sexually transmitted bacterial infections of chlamydia and gonococcus.
The resurgence of cases of infection with Chlamydia and gonococcus pushes Health Insurance to launch a new screening kit to be requested online from 1 July.
The cases of chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis have doubled in the last year in Euskadi, while the annual HIV diagnoses, which in 2024 were 125, remain "constant" since the pandemic, according to data from the AIDS Plan and Sexual Transmission Infections Report 2024 prepared by the Basque Government's Department of Health.
The most common sexual infection can also be found in the mouth - Vaccination could prevent it, but not enough people are taking it.
