Facing crackdown, some immigrants choose to leave— but struggle with the process

Like many Mexican immigrants before them, Luis, his wife and their young daughter crossed the border to the U.S. in 2022 seeking a better and safer life.  The family, whose names we are withholding because of their undocumented status, settled in the South Jersey area.
