FA 'deeply concerned' over FIFA plan to sell $4bn stake in its competitions
UEFA and CONCACAF criticized the plan, while FIFA says 211 associations could receive $40 million each if they sign on.
On Tuesday, FIFA president Gianni Infantino proposed creating a private company to manage competitions, offering 211 member associations $40 million each to sign the plan by September 19.
Regional confederations UEFA and CONCACAF criticized the lack of due process, stating they were "completely unaware of this proposal" before its public release on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham condemned the move, stating the World Cup is "not a product" and "crosses a line that football's governing institutions should never cross."
European football's governing body UEFA warned it may boycott the tournament, insisting the World Cup is not an "asset to trade" and that officials take the plan "extremely seriously."
Proposals revealed links to the extended family of United States President Donald Trump, as associations face immense pressure to prioritize immediate $40 million payments over long-term stewardship before September 19.
