Wennemars Says Olympic Dream Was Ripped Apart After Collision Meant He Had to Skate Again
Joep Wennemars was granted a re-skate after a collision led to his competitor's disqualification but finished with the fifth-fastest time, missing an Olympic medal.

- During the 11th of 15 pairs, a lane change tangle left Wennemars furious as Lian Ziwen blocked his road, he said.
- Officials disqualified Lian Ziwen and granted a re-skate, with Wennemars skating alone before the orange-clad crowd, extending the session by around 15 minutes.
- Exhausted, Wennemars posted only the fifth-fastest time, while American Jordan Stolz won gold with an Olympic-record time 1:06.28.
- Wennemars criticised the timing, saying `It is a disgrace that I had to do the re-skate already half an hour later`, and stated it was the only way to pursue a medal, which he believes was unfair.
