The Shen Yun tickets were a Christmas gift from his wife to Friedrich, and the whole family loved them. Friedrich said the performance opened a door for him to understand traditional Chinese culture. "I think it's wonderful, really wonderful. I hadn't had the chance to experience Chinese (traditional) culture before, but this gave me that opportunity to learn about it, and that's what touched me."
