Russia to halt Kazakhstan's oil flows to Germany via Druzhba: Report
Updated export schedules have been sent to Kazakhstan and Germany, and the halt could cut about 17% of PCK refinery output, Reuters reported.
- On Tuesday, three industry sources reported Russia plans to stop oil exports from Kazakhstan to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline starting May 1, with adjusted schedules already sent to both countries.
- This stoppage threatens the German PCK refinery in Schwedt, which processes up to 12 million tons of oil annually and supplies fuel to 9 out of 10 cars in the Berlin and Brandenburg region.
- A complete cessation would remove approximately 17% of the refinery's crude supply, while Kazakhstan's exports through Druzhba reached 2.146 million metric tons in 2025, a 44% increase from 2024.
- Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he was unaware of the planned halt, telling reporters, "We will try to check it," as the move adds uncertainty to Germany's energy supply.
- Poland's pipeline operator PERN stated it is prepared to ship oil for non-Russian shareholders of the PCK refinery via the port of Gdansk, offering a potential alternative route.
