EXCLUSIVE: Alaïa Confirms Pieter Mulier Is Leaving
Pieter Mulier will present his final fall 2026 collection at Paris Fashion Week with no successor named, after five years leading Alaïa’s creative renewal, Richemont said.
- On Friday, Alaïa announced Pieter Mulier will depart after five years, concluding his tenure after the house's fall 2026 show later this year.
- After arriving in 2021, Pieter Mulier more than doubled Alaïa's size, expanded retail to 20 freestanding stores, and modernized the maison while honoring founder Azzedine Alaïa's legacy.
- Mulier won the International Designer of the Year award last year and produced commercially successful accessories like mesh ballet flats and the Le Teckel bag.
- Alaïa CEO Myriam Serrano said `We sincerely thank Pieter for his vision and commitment, writing an important chapter in the ongoing evolution of the maison`, and Richemont and Alaïa said the studio will ensure interim continuity until a creative organisation is confirmed.
- Industry speculation places Mulier at Versace in Milan; WWD first named him a leading candidate on Dec. 4 and reported Dec. 17 he is widely expected to sign, following Dario Vitale's exit and Prada Group's recent acquisition with an announcement expected next week.
