Kerala excise deputy commissioner, 6 others suspended over bribery
Seven Kerala Excise officers, including a Deputy Excise Commissioner, were suspended. Preliminary inquiry found evidence of unauthorized cash and liquor collections from bars. An intermediary allegedly facilitated these collections for the Deputy Excise Commissioner. The department also found evidence of liquor and food items being supplied. Minor-penalty proceedings were initiated against another inspector for supervisory lapses.

Kottayam: Kottayam Excise Deputy Commissioner S. Ashok Kumar and seven officials have been suspended in the incident of accepting bribes and liquor from bars.
