- Sunny denied knowledge of the narcotics, claiming an acquaintance trapped her during the trip; authorities arrested her under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and remanded her to judicial custody.
- Investigators are probing Sunny's travel history, call data records, and contacts to determine whether she was used as an unwitting carrier by traffickers operating on the Bangkok-Mumbai smuggling route.
- Separately, on Wednesday, the Thane City Crime Branch dismantled a drug trafficking network allegedly linked to the Kashmir Valley, arresting three individuals and seizing narcotics worth more than Rs 3.03 crore.
