Former West Ham striker facing trial after motoring conviction quashed
Antonio will plead not guilty after a judge set aside his conviction over failing to identify the driver of a speeding Lamborghini Urus.
On Friday, Birmingham Magistrates Court set aside the motoring conviction of former West Ham United striker Michail Antonio for failing to provide information about a Lamborghini Urus driver.
Antonio told the judge he transferred the vehicle to a car company in January 2025 to arrange a sale, meaning he was not driving when it was clocked speeding in Birmingham on March 1, 2025.
The 36-year-old told the court, "Can I tell you the whole situation?" before explaining he nearly died in a December 7, 2025, car crash and broke his femur, preventing him from driving.
Antonio opted to plead not guilty and will now face trial at the same court on March 2 next year for the motoring-related offense.
Prosecutors previously dropped a separate speeding charge related to the Lamborghini, recorded at 50 mph in a 40 mph zone; Antonio has also played for Reading, Southampton, and Sheffield Wednesday.
