Ex-capital of the shoe, Romans-sur-Isère burys his last factory

The commercial court of the Drôme announced on Tuesday April 8th the upcoming closure of the Clergerie factory, the last manufacturer of luxury shoes in the commune. The successive crises were right of this local symbol.

The commercial court rejected all the takeover offers for Clergerie companies, a luxury shoe brand and emblematic of Romans-sur-Isère, in the Drôme. This decision struck the end for the sixty employees, who had little hope. The takeover plan proposed by the minority shareholder Mr Levy provided for the dismissal of 28 people and the production of shoes elsewhere in Europe.
