Danny Rohl Speaks Out on 'Strange' James Tavernier Strop
Danny Rohl said Tavernier withdrew after being told to sit out his farewell, and Rangers later lost 2-1 to Hibs.
On Wednesday, Rangers captain James Tavernier refused to be a substitute for his final home game against Hibs, staying away from the team after learning manager Danny Rohl would not start him.
Rohl planned to bring Tavernier off the bench to honor his 11-year career, stating, "When you think about a start or not a start, this is exactly my decision because this is the reason why I am the manager."
Tavernier later posted a social media statement claiming he was "deeply hurt," though Rangers legend John Greig persuaded the 34-year-old to appear for a pre-match presentation.
The match ended in a 2-1 defeat to Hibs, and Rohl expressed uncertainty whether Tavernier will be available for the final game at Falkirk on Saturday.
Following four consecutive defeats, Rohl emphasized the need for "strong cut" and changes, stating, "Today it showed me that we need a strong cut, strong changes to move forward.
