British Actor Patrick Godfrey, Who Played Leonardo Da Vinci in Ever After, Dies at 93
His nearly 70-year career spanned film, television and stage, and he was survived by his wife and two children.
Actor Patrick Godfrey died at age 93 on Thursday, June 4, his talent agency Markham Froggatt & Irwin confirmed. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Godfrey gained international recognition portraying Leonardo da Vinci in the 1998 film 'Ever After: A Cinderella Story' opposite Drew Barrymore. His theatrical career spanned nearly 70 years of classical and Shakespearian productions.
His extensive screen work included appearances in 'Doctor Who', 'The Remains of the Day', and 'Midsomer Murders'. He also featured in films such as 'A Room with a View', 'Clockwise', 'Maurice', and 'Les Misérables'.
Godfrey is survived by his wife, actress Amanda Walker, and two children, Kate Godfrey and Richard. The couple wed in 1960, and Kate serves as Head of Voice for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Playwright Bill Rosenfield remembered Godfrey as a 'prime example of what it means to be a working actor.' Colleagues celebrated his "rich rollercoaster of a career" spanning stage, television, and film.
