Evacuation Order Expanded for French Bar Creek Fire West of Clinton
BC Wildfire Service says the French Bar Creek fire has grown to 54,892 hectares as crews protect properties and repair road access.
The Thompson-Nicola Regional District expanded an evacuation order on Saturday for the French Bar Creek wildfire, now affecting 12 properties west of Clinton.
Part of the Big Bar complex, the fire is estimated at 54,892 hectares and burns alongside the Pear Lake wildfire.
High temperatures of 27 C and dry fuels are expected to elevate fire behaviour, while localized gusting winds may challenge current guards and influence additional growth.
The Wildfire Service has deployed 22 helicopters to the complex, and heavy equipment repaired a road washout to improve access for structure protection crews.
Properties at 7633 and 7780 Watson Bar Road are included in the order, with further details available on the TNRD Emergency Operations Centre Dashboard.
