The sector of Cerro Verde concentrates, so far, the most critical situation of the coastal edge of Penco. Municipal officials carry out the preventive evacuation of the sector after waves of several meters of height exceeded the limits of the beach and the defense infrastructure, causing the entry of sea water to the houses and generating important damages.Read also... The waves and winds over 100 km/h forced dozens of families to evacuate from the commune located in the Biobío Region, especially the sectors of Cerro Verde Bajo, La Poza and the western sector of the northern access to Puerto Lirquén, while Senapred activated SAE alerts to the imminent risk and total loss of homes.
