Prices rose slightly less in August than initially estimated, but the pressure remains high in the face of expensive energy, and other factors also drive inflation.
The data were released today by the EU statistical office, Eurostat, and reveal that the annual inflation rate in the single currency area rose from 2.0% in August 2025 to 3.2% in August 2026, and was 2.9% in July of this year.
Final reading comes below preliminary estimate of 3.3%, as energy prices surge 14.3%
